'U Comment I Follow' movement

See the "U Comment I follow" badge (thanks to Ann) ? I have seen this badge in a few blogs before but couldn’t understand what’s it for until I visited Ann’s blog. So here it goes…

Blogger Blogs, like any other blogs are NoFollow blogs by default. So when a person comments on your blog and leaves a link the search engines will not acknowledge that link while they are crawling the internet. So they Won't be getting any love from Google. And that causes less ‘Link Love’.

Hmm…

That is not what we want, isn't it?

So to promote Link Love and give your commenters a little respect you’ve got to do something. First you got to go to your Template section and then to ‘edit HTML’ or something like that (be sure to save a backup of your existing template). You got to make sure checking the ‘Expand Widget Templates’. The next is to remove the CODE ('nofollow' tags) that causes this problem. Step by Step instruction is given below:

1. Press: Ctrl+F (or find manually. But that's a harder job)
2. Type only the following phrase: rel='nofollow'
3. Remove/delete this phrase.
4. There are two rel='nofollow' phrases in a template. So look for it again and delete the second one to.
5. Now save the template.

Note: Classic templates are unable of such modifications.

**Update: It will effect your Google page rank. But will increase the number of comments as many readers look for docomment blogs to comment.

    i have a little problem...after changing my template i am not sure if my blog is 'following' or not. i checked my html and there's is no relnofollow or whatever like that. so i guess it's allright

    Thanks for the comment is my blog. It ok now and I have successfully remove it. There are problem with my connection at that time. But it not really my connection fault because there some error report.

    I tried the next day and I can find any nofollow. Meaning that it already been delete. I guest Google sometime make mistake.

    Hi, Its nice to see one more spreading the benefits of link juice, I can't understand why many of them still stick to no follow when there is no reason to do so except to stop spam, which can be done by many other means.Do follow also encourages the commentators to comment on the blog.

    Yes, those comments should be allowed if their comment is related to the subject of the post. but if they are just spamming, then do what we do best....

    It's so important to test things out and find out for yourself. I hear different things all the time about what Google does and doesn't do.

    Example, it was my understanding that Google didn't follow 'nofollow' links. Today I've been told that earlier this year Google quit respecting the nofollow attribute.

    In other words Google now follows no follow links. Don't know for sure but I'm going to test it out. Very interesting post.

    I didn't know that blogs defaulted to nofollow links. Good to know. Thanks
