Bloggers Unite: For a Free Iran

First of all, I’d like to beg the forgiveness to the people of Iran and to Neda Agha Soltan for being ignorant for so long. For not keeping my eyes open for what is happening around me. How could I be so self centered?

As I gradually started to go deeper into the current issues of Iran, I was literally shocked and at one stage- afraid. The videos, which youtube is offering us, are horrifying. The video clip of Neda Agha Soltan dying in the street of Iran made me shiver. Looking at her eyes has made me realize why people of Iran call her the “voice of Iran”. Without saying a single word she said and commanded everything that day.
Rest in peace Neda
Current condition of Iran

I’m not going to comment on whether the 10th Iranian presidential election 2009 was fare or not as I don’t understand politics that well. But I must say that a fair election is one of the most basic rights of a person. And if there is enough reason to believe that the election wasn’t fair, then the government should come forward and show some proof on their behalf. Using force and fire power is miles away from the right thing to do. And this kind of behavior will definitely go (has gone) against them. Their method of subduing the mass people by capturing, injuring and killing people will never work. The official death count by far is 32. This can be called anything but democracy and freedom.

The freedom of speech and communication has also been reduced by the Iranian government which is really a shameful act. More than five million websites have been blocked/filtered including facebook and youtube. Before announcing the result of the election on 13th June, net connection was taken away for about 45 minutes which also can arise many doubts in our minds.

A controversial vantage point

Actually the protest didn't start right away after the announcement of the election result. Even though there were a few clashes at the night of the announcement, the "current" protest started 3 days after it. And for that reason many believe that international organizations like CIA and Mossad has taken advantage of the unrest in Iran and influenced it so that it gets out of proportion. This unstable situation might help them to crawl over Iran again. For those who doesn't know, CIA lost their "strong influence" over Iran in 1979. To add to this, America doesn't like Ahmedinejad because of many issues regarding Nuclear Power.

The "possible" main reasons behind this protest

1. For the demand of a fair election and a change.
2. For taking away the powers from Ahmedinejad.
3. For taking away Ahmedinejad from the power so that America can finally have a talk with the Iranian government about nuclear issues.
4. For regaining the powerful position of CIA in Iran.
5. What's your view on this?

Our support

People of Iran, never think that you are alone. We are with you. You are not fighting alone. We know that during the protest your basic human rights have been violated badly and as a citizen of the world, we can not let that happen. We will fight with you for your rights.

Our demands

1. Stop arresting peaceful protesters and oppositions right now. Release those who were taken captive by the government just because they "shared their views".
2. Freedom of speech.
3. An open internet access.
4. End of violence in Iran.
5. I demand a “show cause” for the government for their recent activities.
6. I demand a transparent election commission.
7. CIA or/and Mossad must not stick their nose in this national issue of Iran.
I DEMAND A FREE IRAN

Pakistan and a Blogger's Thoughts

I wonder what is the future of the Middle East and South Asian countries. One after one, countries are falling down not only to terrorism but also to so called foreign “peace promoting wars”. Afghanistan and Iraq have already been devastated due to these issues. Terror attacks have been going on for a long time in India. Palestine is a dangerous place for the Muslims to live in. Peace in Bangladesh is also being hampered by the “muslim extremists”.

Now let’s come to the issue of Pakistan. Recent occurring in Pakistan has worried me a lot. I definitely don’t want to see the fall of this nuclear-power-nation to some terrorist organization. It will be a great threat to any civilization on this planet. I don’t know what politics is being played between the Pakistani government and the Talibans, but will feel a heavy sense of relief if I see Pakistani army blocking the forward march of this group of “muslim extremists”. And they have to do this before foreign soldiers come to the rescue and start another bullsh*t “peace promoting war”.

I hope these extremists stop their forward march before they reach Bangladesh. Sorry for being a little selfish but I don’t want to see my country being devastated by terrorists and foreign soldiers.

Peace

Peace- How Far It Is Actually?

My deepest sympathies for the families who have lost their loved ones and utmost respect for the lost lives in the terror attack in Mumbai- India’s financial capital.

On Wednesday night, 11 places (international hotels and stations) across Mumbai were attacked by a terrorist organization killing 150+ (including 5 hostages who were found dead) people and injuring almost 400. With this kind of terror attack a terrorist can gain nothing but a lifetime of fear or death penalty and curse of the people and the almighty.

Peace- how far is it actually?

At the end of the tunnel there should be a little ray of light- which can give us the courage to look forward and carry on. But at the moment that light is very hard to find. We all are just groping in the dark, waiting for some miracle to happen. But for how long will we have to wait for that?

Peace- a simple 5 letter word which can ensure the safety of you and me. No, I will not watch my brother, dying in my arms. So I will not just sit here and wait. I have to do something…anything. It’s better to have the option to say “Atleast I have tried”.

Allah! Have mercy on us.

About Blog Action Day 2008

This Wednesday, October 15 is the Blog Action Day and the aim for this year is to write about “poverty”. If you have a blog and willing to blog about the given subject then I’d suggest you to register your blog at BlogActionDay.

Let’s blog and talk about poverty on the given date. Let’s discuss about the world of poverty. Let’s feel the sufferings of the poor and let’s try to make a difference. Let's show the world that we CAN bring a change.

Dear friends, how up close have you seen poverty? How much do you feel for the poor? What do you think we should do to reduce/uproot poverty? I want your opinions…

A Little Comparison

A couple of days back when I was going through Dhaka I took this picture. Have a look at it.
.

poverty bangladesh asadgate.
What do you see?

Look at the picture. You can see a “house” on the left- made out of blue and yellow polybags. The house is standing on a roadside dump. And the man (probably the owner of the house/tent) is trying to find something in the waste, probably to sell it.

This is just the picture of one of the many tents that are found on this street...

Dear friends, we have a solid roof over our heads, food to eat, fresh water to drink and internet to blog, surf and socialize. How come we are not still satisfied with our lives?

Do You Love What You Do?

Loving what you do is crucial. I am not only talking about loving your job- which you have to do for a living- but also about most of the things that you have to do in everyday life. It’s very important to do what you love as it let’s you find peace in your heart.

Don’t let other’s pressure you to do something that you don’t wanna do. Learn to say NO. Today I did something- which I didn’t wanna do- just because I couldn’t say no. I know that many of us have this same problem. They just can’t say no and as a result do something that they shouldn’t have done and regret later.

My friend, we all have to learn to stand for ourselves and to do what we wanna do. We all have a dream and we should have the courage to at least chase it. We should try to make most of our lives by doing what we love. But we’ll have to be careful not to hurt someone in the process.

If someone loves to beat up little kids and to steal from a blind man I can’t help him with that. I’ll just think that he has no conscience. Almost the same goes for the person who doesn’t love helping out others.

Peace

I Do My Part

On 21st September a lot of bloggers blogged about the current condition of world peace. It’s nice to see so many people who care and write for the/a cause.

Now let’s talk about our part in promoting global peace and the current condition of our world. I think that even the tiniest change that you make can have a huge impact (gradually) over the world. Use this power. Start acting now. Start changing the world around you… (If you are planning on living in Mars then you don’t need to read this post)

1. Don’t waste water. Shut the tap carefully after you are done. Today 1.42 billion* (and counting) people have no access to safe drinking water. Can you imagine what they have to go through to dring some water?

2. Let’s switch off. Don’t leave the light on after coming out from the bathroom. Don’t leave the computer or the TV on standby because it consumes much hard earned electricity. Today more than 1.57 billion* people are living without any electricity.

3. Don’t drive if you can walk the small distance (0.5/1 km etc.). It will reduce pollution, traffic jam and will save you some cash (do I need to talk about the price of fuel?). I’ve heard some of my friends saying that “the person who can’t bye a car rides the bus”. I don’t agree with it. Riding the bus isn’t an insult.

4. Don’t spend $1000 on shopping. Spend $995 and give that extra $5 to someone who needs it more. If you are a Muslim then give Zakat. Feed a hungry kid once in a while. Don’t throw away old cloths. Instead give it to charity. In my country each year during Dec-Feb many rootless people die only because of the cold weather even though we live in South Asia.

5. Let’s recycle. Let’s carry bags with us when ever we go shopping. Avoid poly-bags. Use paper bags and recyclable polythene instead.

6. Have a working knowledge about politics. Know who you are voting. Know your rights and power. Know that you are not alone. You can do almost anything if you want to.

7. LET’S NOT BE SELFISH. Love others, care about others, care about your country and the world.

If you like this post please subscribe. If you really like it then you can add one of these badges to your blog and let the world know that you care. You can also create your own sticker. But please LINK THE STICKER TO THIS POST.

Our World:Our Responsibility

This post is dedicated to all who can’t find or don’t let others to find peace in their hearts.

Though war is one of the major causes of hampering peace worldwide it’s not the only culprit. Poverty, hunger and illiteracy are also equally responsible for it. It’s very hard to show compassion or patience with an empty belly. I think I don’t need to explain what lack of patience does to us or the people around. Today over 1.1 billion people live below the poverty line (almost 55.1 million people of my country are among them). They are deprived of all basic human rights including the right to live safely because of all the wars going on around us. We can't change the condition of the world if their condition isn't changed (read: if we don't act to change their condition)

I don’t know about you but to me the thought “I’m more powerful or my social status is higher than him” has a very ill effect over humanity. We should learn to be less selfish, we must think about others and about all the wars that are ruining our beautiful world. We shouldn’t think the war on Iraq, Pakistan or Georgia doesn’t have any effect on our lives, because it does.

It’s high time that we realized that these "Peace Promoting Wars" aren’t doing any good but demoting global peace. We should choose a new method (preferably non violent one). We should unite. We should dadicate ourselves for this greater cause. The world is ours; so is the responsibility to fix it.
